Job Summary

Hello Tractor has a fantastic opportunity for an Experienced Android Engineer who can work at a high level across the enterprise. We are looking for people who are passionate about creating a great experience for our customers within and outside our Android applications. Are you as comfortable composing efficient layouts that work well across various screen sizes and densities as you are debugging performance issues in the persistence layer? Then we need you! 

Key Responsibilities

• Designing and developing high-quality, efficient, and maintainable Android applications.
• Leading a team of developers in defining, designing, and shipping new features.
• Mentoring and guiding junior developers, and providing technical expertise to the team.
• Writing unit tests to ensure robustness, reliability, and maintainability of code.
• Continuously discovering, evaluating, and implementing new technologies to maximize development efficiency.
• Debugging and resolving application issues, and maintaining code quality and organization.
• Ensuring optimal performance, quality, and responsiveness of the applications.
• Collaborating with product management, UX/UI designers, and backend engineers to develop a seamless user experience.

Qualifications

• At least 4 years of experience building native mobile applications, with focus on Android.
• At least 2 years of experience writing Kotlin code.
• Strong knowledge of Android SDK, different versions of Android, and how to deal with different screen sizes.
• Proficiency in Kotlin and Java programming languages.
• Familiarity with XML and other Android-related technologies.
• In-depth understanding of Android UI design principles, patterns, and best practices.
• Expertise in Design Patterns, Dependency Injection, and architectural patterns such as MVP, MVVM, or MVI.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs to connect Android applications to back-end services.
• Extensive knowledge of SQLite, Room, or other Android data storage solutions.
• Experience with performance tuning, memory management, and app profiling.
• Familiarity with version control systems such as Git.
• Good understanding of Agile methodologies, including Scrum or Kanban.
• Proficiency in CircleCI or other CI/CD tools for continuous integration and deployment.
• Strong problem-solving skills, ability to think critically, and work independently.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
