🧩The Role

Hello Tractor has a fantastic opportunity for a Collections Officer. Working closely with the PAYG Manager, the job holder will manage and improve PAYG receivables processes. This role involves engaging with customers (tractor owners, booking agents, and farmers) to ensure timely repayment of credit extended for tractor bookings, equipment leases, or digital financing. You will play a critical role in maintaining flow, minimizing credit risk, and supporting Hello Tractor’s mission to make mechanization accessible and affordable for smallholder farmers.

🛠️Responsibilities

Monitor weekly PAYG accounts to identify overdue payments and flag potential default risks.
Contact clients via phone, email, or field visits to follow up on outstanding invoices or credit repayments.
Maintain accurate records of communication with customers regarding collections.
Negotiate repayment plans when necessary and ensure commitments are met.
Collaborate with the PAYG and finance teams to recommend credit limits, repossession, or legal action where appropriate.
Educate Hello Tractor customers about PAYG loan terms, repayment schedules, and consequences of default.
Assist in improving credit control systems and suggest policy changes to reduce future risk.
Generate regular reports on collections performance and outstanding debts.
Escalate unresolved issues to the relevant departments, including legal or compliance.
Ensure compliance with Hello Tractor's PAYG policies, data privacy, and ethical standards.

🎓Who You Are

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
2+ years of experience in collections, credit control, or financial services (experience in agri-fintech or rural lending is a plus).
Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
Strong communication (written and verbal) in English; knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
Familiarity with mobile money, digital lending platforms, EBMs, and CRM systems.
High attention to detail, integrity, and professionalism.
Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to debt recovery and client relationship management.
